Going against the current grain, Innotech Solar is planning to increase its photovoltaic module production capacity. New jobs are expected to be created.

If capacity is increased to 170 MW, more jobs could also be created in Germany.

The photovoltaic company has announced that production of its modules will be ramped up from 60 to 100 MW. In the medium-term, added Innotech, capacity could reach 170 MW. While cell optimization takes place in Halle an der Saale, Germany, the photovoltaic modules are manufactured in Glava, Sweden.

From April, the number of employees in Sweden is expected to increase by around 20%. Currently, Innotech claims to have an approximately 120-strong workforce globally. If capacity is increased to 170 MW, more jobs could also be created in Germany, said Thomas Hillig, vice president of sales and marketing. A decision is expected to be made late summer, autumn.

Hillig added that in light of the ongoing anti-dumping and anti-subsidy proceedings in the EU, there is an increasing demand for European modules, as wholesalers and project developers seek to avoid paying retroactive tariffs on imported Chinese products.

"The insolvency of many solar companies in recent months shows that anti-dumping duties are justified," stated Hillig. "For some players they could still come too late," he continued.
