The local government has already given its approval to the project. While it did not name the company that submitted the proposal, local media has reported that France-based Dhamma Energy is behind it.

The government said as a next step, the officially unidentified company can start the process to obtain environmental and administrative permits. The total amount of investment is expected to be around €270 million. It is hoped the project will attract 500 employees during construction, and 70 during its operational phase.

According to city Mayor Pedro Acedo, Extremadura has a huge potential for the development of PV plants with 3,200 hours of sunshine annually.

No further details were available.
