Ken Salazar made the announcement yesterday. It is now the 25th renewable energy proposal on public land to get the go ahead from the Obama Administration.

The next step for NextEra is to secure a long-term power purchase agreement, before it can start construction work on the two photovoltaic arrays, to be located in Little Rainbow Valley. "With the permitting hurdles cleared, we are in a stronger position to assess project costs and offer the power that would be generated by this project to potential customers," commented spokesman Steven Stengel.

Stengel additionally told pv magazine that, at this time, no equipment manufacturers had yet been secured. While he also could not provide any specific construction dates, he did say that the project will be built across approximately 200 acres of land managed by the Bureau of Land Management. "The project will be located in Maricopa County, Arizona south of the town of Buckeye," he added.
