360 MW solar project planned for South Africa

The Italy-based Moncada Group has formed a joint venture with South African investment and development company, Solar Capital to build a large-scale solar project.

The mega-solar project is planned for Cape Town.

The 360 megawatt (MW) system is set to be located in Cape Town. According to a statement released by Moncada, construction will begin in 2012, with completion scheduled for 2016. The group says it will supply all the required technology for the project.

Moncada could not be reached for further comment regarding the project specifics. pv magazine has asked Solar Capital for more details.
