The Rovigo solar plant is expected to generate enough energy to power over 16,500 homes in its first year and prevent the emission of more than 40,000 tons of carbon dioxide.

Acquired by First Reserve through a previously announced joint venture between First Reserve Corporation and SunEdison, the company recently announced the execution of a €276 million project finance facility for the project. SunEdison, a minority investor in the joint venture, will manage the ongoing operations and maintenance of the plant.

“With construction completion in less than one year, we believe this deployment signifies a new milestone for the industry and will become the standard for future mega projects,” said Carlos Domenech, president of SunEdison. “SunEdison has once again demonstrated its capabilities and expertise in developing large-scale solar projects while helping government agencies promote renewable energy initiatives.”
