The company has formed a strategic relationship with an unnamed global company in electronics manufacturing services based in Ontario, in order to achieve this aim. It expects to start shipping locally manufactured products in the fourth quarter of this year.
To further broaden local content, its one megawatt (MW) and two MW medium-voltage integrated inverter solutions will also reportedly be manufactured in the state, through a separate local collaboration.
Additionally, the company says that it will create a new legal entity, so as to provide local support to its customers in the region. Initially, it explains, the new facility will provide Canadian customers with sales and customer support services, and will ultimately include field service and application engineering resources.
Furthermore, it is hoped that the regional manufacturing capability will provide Canadian customers access to Solaron and PV Powered inverters while meeting the requirement for local content by the Ontario government's feed-in tariff (FIT) program under the Green Energy Act.
