Argentina: Jujuy announced that it was awarded 300 MW of solar projects during tender

The government of the Argentine province of Jujuy announced that it has won 300 MW of solar projects during the first national renewable energy tender of the RenovAr program, it said within a statement.

Specifically, it has been awarded the three Cauchari solar projects, 1, 2 and 3, which each have a capacity of 100 MW, at the initial stage of the financial bids. The indicated price of the installations remains at US$60 per MW, according to the announcement. The provider of the projects is JEMSE SE (Jujuy Energy and Mining State Society).

In the statement, the Jujuy government notes that the projects should attract investment of US$340 million. State investment in the projects should account for 80%, while the further 20% will be generated privately. For these initiatives, “JEMSE has invited corporate links with Chinese companies Power China, Shanghai Electric and Talseun,” the statement continued.

The Governor of Jujuy Gerardo Morales consider this deal to be an “historic achievement” for the province. As part of the agreement, the Parque Solar de la Puna will be developed in the province of Jujuy, in the northeast of Argentina.

An impressive 58 PV projects with a combined capacity of 2.8 GW were entered into the first renewable energy tender of the RenovAr program, within which 1 GW was assigned to renewable energy, including 300 MW for solar PV.

The opening of the bidding process for the tender was recently brought forward from 7 October to 30 September, which allows the awarding of the projects to take place on the 7 October.
