Located 100 kilometers north of Bangkok, in Thailands Saraburi province, the farms are expected to be completed and online by December 30, 2011. It is not known, however, how many systems the 5.5 MWp will comprise.
According to a statement released, the solar projects will be constructed using polycrystalline photovoltaic modules from Astronergy. Meanwhile, Chint Power System Co. Ltd. will supply the inverters and balance of system components will come from other Chint subsidiaries.
Overall, when grid connected, the farms are expected to generate enough energy to meet the needs of over 4,000 homes.
"Solar energy could soon be a key energy source in Thailand. Considering its strong demand in energy and rising prices of imported oil or coal, PV is an excellent way to contribute energy without any other emissions," commented Liyou Yang, CEO at Astronergy.
He added: "We have seen the great effort that the Thailand government has made recently and its clear vision for the future."
