The company's subsidiary, CSI Solar Power, completed the 100 MW ground mounted project in the Jiangsu Province, eastern China.
The project was connected late December in Sihong County, and has been overseen by Canadian Solar subsidiary, CSI Solar Power, who began work on it in September.
The 100 MW site uses 40,788 CS6P-245P modules, and will provide an average annual electricity output of 11 million kWh – a figure that will mitigate some 8,657 tons of carbon dioxide per year. Over the plant’s first 25 years, it is calculated that it will save the use of 86,000 tons of standard coal. The EPC contractor for the plant is Gaochuangte New Energy.
"We are glad to announce the completion and grid connection of this project, following the one we completed in western China," said Canadian Solar CEO and chairman, Shawn Qu.
"This project is another good demonstration of Canadian Solar's success in the development and construction of utility-scale solar power plants on a global basis as well as our growing momentum in China, a rapid growing emerging market that is poised to become the world’s largest solar market in the years ahead."
