Global provider of solar solutions and equipment Canadian Solar has been selected by the U.S.s National Renewable Energy Corporation (NARENCO) to supply 25.3 MW worth of modules to four utility-scale solar PV projects in North Carolina.
The deal sees Canadian Solar deliver 84,480 modules to the four projects, three of which are located in the county of Wayne, with an additional plant in Duplin County. The modules chosen are the companys highly coveted CS6X-300 W max power modules, which will be used across all four sites.
"We are pleased to have been selected by NARENCO to power these latest four projects as we continue to build upon our global leadership position," said Canadian Solar CEO and chairman, Shawn Qu. "We share in NARENCOs commitment to providing cleaner, less expensive and more efficient energy."
Canadian Solars modules will power the 6.48 MW Wayne Solar I solar farm in Mount Olive, Wayne County. Wayne Solar II and Wayne Solar III will follow shortly thereafter, each with a power generation capacity 6.48 MW.
Individually, each Wayne solar project will offset 34,276 tons of carbon emissions, which is the equivalent of removing 4,155 vehicles from North Carolina's roads annually.
The Duplin County project will be called Duplin Solar I and is to be located in Kenansville. This ground installation will boast a power capacity of 5.83 MW, with an anticipated annual power output of 8,775 MWh.
