The company announced that it will additionally set up its regional headquarters for its solar operations there, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, CGN Solar Energy Development Co. Ltd.
A memorandum of understanding has been signed with Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) Singapore and Singapore Biofuel Industries Pte Ltd.
The project, explained the company, is expected to feature a biomass power plant, fuelled by wood and horticultural waste, with a 250kW solar installation on the rooftop.
According to CGNPC, it is the first trial project of integrated solar-biomass power generation in Singapore. It said that by exploring the technical and economical feasibilities of the comprehensive use of solar energy in Singapore and the region, this project can serve as a lead example of the good practice in utilizing renewable energy.
It added that it will serve to further strengthen the economic relationship between Singapore and China.
"CGNPC is actively looking to expand our reach in the global clean energy market. Singapore is strategically located in South East Asia where sunlight is plentiful, and has shown clear commitment towards the development of the solar industry," stated Tan Jiansheng, deputy general manager of CGNPC.
"This project is thus of strategic importance to CGNPC in terms of both our brand image and internationalization efforts."
