Chile installed around 104 MW-AC of new solar PV in May, according to the latest monthly report from Chilean renewable energy center CIFES (in Spanish). With this, the nation maintains its leadership as the largest PV market in Latin America, with Honduras a distant second in terms of installed capacity.

The largest PV plants in Latin America are located in Chile. Recently Enel Green Power announced grid connection of the largest PV plant realized to date in Latin America, the 160 MW Finis Terrae, which is located in Northern Chile.

Additionally, the CIFES report states that PV projects under construction which are expected to go into service between June of this year and August 2018 have reached 1.90 GW-AC. Including the plants which are under construction and expected to go online, the nation is expected to reach an installed PV capacity of 3 GW in 2018.
