Work on the Alamo 6 solar plant is currently underway in Pecos County, Texas by Mortenson Construction. It is the sixth phase of a 400 MW project, which OCI is working on for San Antonio energy company, CPS Energy.

OCI will develop, own and operate the seven PV projects, the first four of which – 86.7 MW – are operational. Construction is ongoing for phase 5 (95 MW) and 6 (110 MW), while the final phase of the 400 MW project – 106.4 MW – is still under development.

Work on the 110 MW Alamo 6 project is scheduled for completion during Q4 2016. As with the other projects, it will feature solar PV modules from local company, Mission Solar, in addition to a dual-axis tracker system from Sun Action Trackers and Kaco new energy’s inverters, both of whom are also based in San Antonio.

Around 250 temporary jobs have been created for the sixth construction phase of the Alamo project. OCI has said, however, it will create over 800 long-term jobs in the San Antonio area, as part of its agreement with CPS Energy.

Commenting on the project, Cris Eugster, group executive VP and chief generation & strategy officer of CPS Energy said "they highlight the innovation and technology of our New Energy Economy partners and how we work together to bring jobs and economic development to a community."
