Chinese solar cell and module manufacturer China Sunergy (CSUN) has completed the shipment of 39 MW of PV modules to Third Step France, a special purpose vehicle company focusing on solar opportunities in France.
Third Step will deploy the solar modules, which CSUN shipped from its factory in Turkey, for its eight utility-scale ground-mounted solar projects across Southern France.
Founded in 2010, Third Step is jointly owned by project developer Altus Energy, technical consultant Solaïs and Swiss renewable energy investment fund SUSI Partners.
Matthieu Debonnet, president of Altus Energy, and Nicolas Thévenin, managing partner of Solaïs, said in a statement that CSUN's "ability to manufacture various types of photovoltaic modules at its strategic location in Turkey provides us with a winning formula of high quality products and customer-oriented service at a reasonable price. We will broaden our go-to-market cooperation with China Sunergy to convert our project pipeline into additional wins in the near future."
CSUN CEO Tingxiu Lu added, "We are delighted to kickstart our strategic partnership with Third Step with a prominent contract win, demonstrating customers' confidence in our manufacturing capability and the market's acceptance of our ‘Made in Turkey' modules, while also marking another successful milestone in our continued efforts to fully ramp up production in Turkey."
Lu said CSUN would continue to execute its strategy and operations in Turkey and anticipated the acquisition of additional projects and further expanding its customer base in the region as well as other surrounding markets.
