Taiwains Delta Group which supplies solar inverters and battery technology to the solar PV industry has sent a convoy of its top delegates to Paris for the COP21 UN Climate Conference to lend its backing to the summit and showcase the work Delta is doing in helping to combat climate change.
Group founder Bruce Cheng is to lead a team of Deltas management executives as part of the Delta Road to Paris Campaign, calling in on the many side conferences and exhibitions taking place concurrently.
The aim is to learn and understand more about the efforts being made around the globe by countries and companies in the battle against climate change, while also spreading the word about Deltas own presence in Paris, which will be centered around the Delta 21 Green Buildings Exhibition.
For the past few years Delta has delivered climate-friendly building solutions to clients across the globe, and will highlight its successes in energy conservation and green buildings at a series of press conferences during the COP21 summit.
Deltas high-efficiency products, its power electronics for the renewables industry, and its computing and electronics services have helped its customers save close to 15 billion kWh of electricity between 2010 and 2014, while reducing carbon emissions by 7.9 million tons.
Having reduced its own energy use intensity by 50% over the past five years, Delta has announced at COP21 that it will seek a further 30% reduction between now and 2020 placing the company firmly in line with wider carbon reduction efforts being pledged by leading governments.
Sustainable innovation
On December 7, Delta chairman Yancey Hai will take to the stage at the Sustainable Innovation Forum at the Stade de France to discuss the topic of sustainable cities and examine the efforts Delta has made in providing energy efficiency, smart communications, connectivity and computing essential to the future of smart cities.
Further topics set to be outlined by Delta at the forum include the use of efficient storage solutions, smart grids, electric vehicle charging and smarter energy management for renewable energy solutions such as solar PV.
At the previous event, COP20 in Lima held in 2014, Delta showcased a case study of its green rebuilding of the Namasia MinQuan Elementary School in Taiwan using green building methods. In Paris, Delta will use the opportunity to introduce its energy-saving practices across a series of side events, culminating in a large-screen filming of its successes to be show at the Grand Palais.
