ET Solar completes 50 MW of new PV in Romania

Share

ET Solar Group Corporation announced the completion and electrification of three photovoltaic solar parks in Romania with a combined capacity of 28 MW and owned by Tinmar, one of Romania’s largest electricity suppliers and traders. The three projects, combined with 22 MW completed for Tinmar in April, bring ET Solar’s cumulative total in Romania to 50 MW so far this year.

The three plants electrified in June are located in Targu Carbunesti, Gorjcounty, and Simnicu de Sus, Dolj county. ET Solar Group is a one-stop solution provider, therefore it supplied all PV modules, while ET Solutions AG, its Munich-based subsidiary, provided engineering, procurement and construction services as well as financing, while ET Solutions’ Romanian branch will provide operations and maintenance.

"The achievement of grid connection for these three photovoltaic plants is a result of seamless coordinated work among our team in Munich and Bucharest," said Dennis She, ET Solar Group president and CEO. "It further demonstrates that we are transforming ourselves into a global EPC company. We are committed to further growing our project solutions business to other emerging markets."

The news is particularly good considering cumulative photovoltaic capacity in Romania in October was only 2 MW. The country has been seen as a promising emerging market for photovoltaic energy investments, but the Romanian government's introduction of new measures in early June could discourage foreign investors. Among the new measures is a government ordinance approved in June that suspends two out of six green certificates awarded to photovoltaic energy producers per megawatt hour fed into the national grid. Following the change, which goes into effect July 1, the Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) will still issue PV solar plants six green certificates but withhold two of them until March 2017.
