EU PVSEC to be hosted separately from Intersolar Europe in 2017

The news came as somewhat of a surprise last week that Intersolar Europe and the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC) will be hosted separately in 2017 after just one joined event in 2016. All of the signs had been that the joint event had gone smoothly, with Intersolar Europe expressing its satisfaction with the collaboration, but EU PVSEC’s decision to host it’s 2017 annual event in Autumn shows that the organizers see its future apart from Intersolar Europe.

The two powerhouses of European solar had taken place at the same time and in the same location for the first time in Munich in June 2016. The reason seemed clear as EU PVSEC is one of the world’s leading international conferences in PV, while it’s trade show had declined over the last few years. As Intersolar Europe is the largest PV trade show in the continent, it seemed natural to join the two together.

In a press release, EU PVSEC said that the 2016 collaboration had been “an outstanding event on highest information level for science, research and industry,” but then went on to confirm that the 33rd EU PVSEC will take place four months after Intersolar Europe’s 2017 edition. PVSEC will now take place from 25 to 29 September 2017 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, while Intersolar Europe will remain at the end of Spring from 31 May to 2 June in Munich.

“The organizers of both events found very valuable conclusion from the co-location,” wrote a press release from EU PVSEC. “However, in order to meet its long-term European aspect and character, the EU PVSEC returns to its tradition and mission and changes to the annual autumn timeslot at different European locations.”
