France’s Ministry of Energy, Ecology and Sustainable Development published on Friday the winners of the third and final tranche of a tender concerning the installation of rooftop PV projects sized between 100 and 250 KW.

The tender concerns an overall PV capacity of 240 MW, split into three tranches, each comprising 80 MW of PV projects. The results published on Friday regard the third tranche of the tender.

The 353 winning projects listed on Friday represent a €132 million investment overall, and will produce 100 GWh of green electricity every year, said the French ministry.

Furthermore, the winning projects will also receive on average a purchase feed-in tariff (FIT) of €131.25 per MWh. The FIT price is less than the price awarded in the previous two tranches of the tender. Specifically, the first tranche of the tender concluded in March led to a FIT of €139 per MWh. And the second tranche of the tender concluded in May led to a FIT of €134.8 per MWh.

Tendering medium-sized rooftop solar PV projects is not new in France, which had also launched similar tenders in July 2011 and March 2013.

France announced in August that it will tender 3 GW of ground mounted solar PV projects ranging in size from 500 kW to 17 MW between 2017 and 2020. In September, the French ministry added it will also tender a further 1.35 GW of new rooftop PV capacity over the next three years.
