Following final approval, which should be concluded in May, the Berlin company will erect the system on the site of a former military training ground.
The first phase of construction is scheduled to run from this June to August, and is expected to generate 41 MW. To achieve this, a spokesperson for the company tells pv magazine that around 90 million will be invested.
They continue by saying that the full 90 MW is expected to be reached by 2012. Additionally, it is hoped that up to 200 workers will be employed during the park's installation.
According to Parabel, Marienfliess municipality, which is responsible for land-use planning in the area, is very positive about the venture and has reportedly offered the process its full support.
"Using conversion areas for photovoltaic facilities is a sensible and attractive option from both an ecological and an economic point of view," says Jürgen Will, managing director of Parabel AG. "We are currently conducting an investor selection process and we invite all investors with an interest in the project to contact us by the end of February."
Last year, the company installed four open-field solar parks in Germany and the Czech Republic with a capacity of over 19 MWp.
