GT Solar secures 2 new polysilicon equipment orders
07. July 2011 | Industry & Suppliers, Products | By: Becky StuartGT Solar International, Inc. has received new orders worth USD$81.7 million for its polysilicon production equipment.
Two unidentified Asian customers have ordered a range of equipment from GT Solar, including its hydrochlorination equipment, which is used for the production of TCS (trichlorosilane).
GT Solar says the orders will be included in its first quarter 2012 backlog, which ended on July 2, 2011. It is not clear, however, when the orders will be shipped.
"We are pleased to add two new customers to our growing family of polysilicon producers," commented Dave Keck, vice president and general manager of GT Solar’s polysilicon technology business unit.
"As polysilicon prices continue to fall, producers must operate their plants at the highest levels of productivity and efficiency to remain profitable."
