Subject to approval by the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission, the five MW fixed-tilt photovoltaic (PV) facility, will be located in Campbell Industrial Park on the island of Oahu. Construction is scheduled to begin this year, and should be completed by 2012.

Axio Power will reportedly develop the facility on 20 acres of land provided by Tesoro Corporation. According to the companies, if executed, it will be Oahu’s first utility-scale solar installation. It is also said to be the largest PV project agreement, to date, in Hawaii.

This five megawatt project represents a first step for Axio in Hawaii," said Tim Derrick, CEO of Axio Power. "We are glad to add IC Sunshine to our portfolio of brownfield and industrially-sited renewable energy projects in the U.S. and Canada, and we hope to work with Hawaiian Electric to add additional renewable projects to this one."
