SECI has announced it will be holding auctions for 750 MW of PV projects in the western Indian states of Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Maharashtra will see the development of 500 MW of PV projects this time round, while the westernmost state of Gujarat has 250 MW planned for auction. The grid-connected projects will be implemented under JNNSM Phase II Batch III. The details will be uploaded to TCIL – India's electronic tender website – soon.

According to Bridge to India, Maharashtra has the highest power requirements and costs as one of India's most industrialised states, and is thus ideal for solar. The state's power distribution companies are also relatively better off than those in other Indian states, continues the market research company.
