India: Commissioning of 40 MW project in India
05. January 2012 | Industry & Suppliers, Markets & Trends | By: Shamsiah Ali-OettingerAdani Group has announced today that it has commissioned a 40 MW solar power project in the Kutch District in Gujarat. This is the largest to date in India.
The Gujarat based Indian conglomerate mainly deals with commodities trading, edible oil manufacturing, natural gas distribution and port operations. Now, Adani Group has expanded into solar. "This plant also marks Adani's first big foray in the renewable energy sector," reads a company statement.
The plant houses over 400,000 PV modules according to a report and the generated power will be linked to a substation in Netra, 20 kilometers away from the site.
More ambitiously, the group plans to expand on this project, bringing it to 100 MW. "We are pleased to dedicate country's largest solar plant ...," Adani Group's chairman Gautam Adani said.
