India: PLG Power inks 70 MW worth of PV contracts

PLG Power Limited has signed photovoltaic contracts worth 70 megawatts (MW) with the Gujarat Government in India. In total, it aims to install 200 MW by 2012.

The Indian company says it has signed a power purchase agreement worth 40 MW with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). The first 10 MW phase is expected to be grid connected "shortly", while all four phases are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

Furthermore, it has signed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreements worth a total of 30 MW with Zamil from Saudi Arabia, and Indowind Energy Limited. Under them, two separate solar power plants will be installed in the state of Gujarat, worth 20 MW and 10 MW respectively.

By 2012, PLG Power adds that it is aiming to sign EPC contracts worth 200 MW. This would comprise 100 MW in Uttar Pradesh, 20 MW in West Bengal and 10 MW in Rajasthan. The remaining 70 MW would reportedly be installed across "other states".

Commenting on the development Punit K.
