Broadening its net even further, Intersolar has set its sights on the Middle Eastern solar market. Intersolar Middle East Exhibition and Conference is set to be held in Dubai, next September 19 to 21.
The event will be held in conjunction with GulfSol, which took place for the second time in Dubai this September 14 to 16. Intersolar organizer, Solar Promotion International GmbH will work together with GulfSol organizer dmg events, and Freiburg Marketing Management International (FMMi) to put on the new 2016 event, to be held at the Dubai World Trade Center.
GulfSol is said to be the only solar CPV and PV event in the Middle East. In addition to hosting series a panel discussions, seminars, workshops, and courses, the event also features an exhibition, which around 70 exhibitors participated in this year. The last event was held in 2013, with around 2,300 attendees. The organizers said they expect more this year.
While Solar Promotion International could not say how many exhibitors and visitors it was expecting next year, a spokesperson told pv magazine, "We are expecting a successful and expanding event in the next years." No further details were shared.
The move was made on the back of the anticipated solar growth in the region. In a report issued this January, the Middle East Solar Industry Association (MESIA) said it expects 2015 to be a "breakthrough" year for solar in MENA. It calculates that more than 1.5 GW of solar projects will be tendered this year.
In addition to solar system price decreases (around 75% between 2008 and 2014, says MESIA), expected growth will be driven by rising average project sizes, from the one to 10 MW range, to the 10 to 100 MW range.
"With Dubai, Intersolar Middle East, has found an ideal venue to reach the regions emerging solar markets Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, along with for example Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco in North Africa," concluded Solar Promotion International.
Other Intersolar exhibitions and conferences are held in Munich, Germany, San Francisco, the U.S., Mumbai, India, Beijing, China and São Paulo, Brazil.
