They said that the trade fair's growth rate is impressive, particularly in light of the recent financial crisis. It was also noted that a third of exhibitiors have come from outside of Europe.

Exhibitior numbers are up 33 percent on last year, to 1,884 with 43 countries being represented within Intersolar's halls. According to the numbers, Germany is the country with the most exhibitors, with China and Spain coming second and third respectively. In terms of international visitors, Austria, Italy and France have taken the top three spots.

?“We are extremely pleased about the positive growth and the increase in international participation. Thanks to Intersolar’s international footholds with its sister exhibitions Intersolar North America in San Francisco, Intersolar India in Mumbai and Intersolar China in Shanghai, Intersolar Europe’s presence on the international solar stage has also intensified. The figures are therefore clearly encouraging us to continue in the same direction,” stated Markus Elsässer, CEO of Solar Promotion GmbH.

In other news, it has been reported that demand for the latest production and installation equipment is growing. It was also said that the solar industry is benefitting from the advantages of increased automation. As a result, both the Intersolar Europe exhibition and the International Exhibition for Automation and Mechatronics are "coming closer together".

Later on today, the Solar Industry Award for Innovation will be presented. New for this year is a category titled "PV Production Technology". Exhibitiors at Intersolar North America are also entitled to take part.

The Intersolar Europe trade fair is expecting over 60,000 visitors to walk through its doors during the next three days. An extensive fringe program and the Intersolar Europe Conference are running in parallel to the trade fair at the International Congress Center ICM.
