Intersolar South America preview

Share

With GTM Research predicting the South American PV market will see 13 GW installed by 2017 and Greenpeace speculating it will add up to 100 GW by 2050, the attraction of Brazil and its neighbours for PV companies is obvious as the country prepares to host the first Intersolar South America trade show.

Around 70 PV exhibitors from ten countries will attend the show at the Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo from September 18-20 with a further 60 speakers and 600 attendees at the parallel Intersolar South America Conference to discuss trends in PV and solar thermal.

Brazilian and German companies dominate the exhibitors which will include inverter manufacturer SMA Solar, production equipment manufacturer Schmid Group and research and development company juwi International as well as the U.S. subsidiaries of Chinese manufacturers ReneSola, Yingli and Canadian Solar.

450 MW installed this year

Despite having only 100 MW of PV installed across the region last year, GTM Research says 450 MW has already been installed this year and the Intersolar organizers are hoping that will add up to a healthy attendance in Sao Paulo.

Exhibitors from Italy, Spain, Switzerland, India, the Czech Republic and Portugal will also be in attendance, along with pv magazine and, among education and training providers, pv magazine Group.

The tandem conference will kick-off with a look at the global and Latin American PV market – with an emphasis on the host country – before examining project development and financing and production technologies.

The final day of the conference will include discussions about rural electrification opportunities in the region and a look at the solar thermal market.
