Intevac receives multi-system order for implant systems used for c-Si cell manufacturing

Intevac’s solar cell manufacturing equipment continues to generate industry interest, as it receives a significant order for two of its ENERGi ion implant systems. The technology is some of the less used in the manufacturing of PV cells, but the news of an order from a China-based cell producer could be a sign that more manufacturers are going to give it a go.

Previous to this order, Intevac had only received two orders for its ion implant systems, now these two additional ENERGi systems are due to be shipped in the second half of 2016. The ENERGi system is designed specifically for c-Si solar cell manufacturing.

“This new order for systems configured with our ion implantation source technology demonstrates continued and meaningful progress in our Thin-film Equipment growth strategy,” said Intevac president and CEO Wendell Blonigan. “Securing this order from a leading solar cell manufacturer in China validates the capability and value proposition of our implant technology for high-efficiency solar cell manufacturing.”
