Chinas solar module producer JinkoSolar has confirmed today that it has been selected to supply solar panels to a 75 MW PV project being constructed in the U.S. state of Arizona.
The Red Horse 2 wind and solar project is being developed by local EPC Swinerton Renewable Energy, and will be located near to the town of Cochise. Swinerton Renewable Energy has opted for JinkoSolars high-efficient 72-cell polycrystalline solar panels, of which 248,750 will be installed over the coming months.
Once complete, the hybrid development which will boast a multi-MW wind installation too will generate enough clean energy to power 13,500 local households.
"The Red Horse 2 project is a true example of the advancement of renewable energy in the U.S. and we are proud to be an integral part of the growing clean energy industry," said JinkoSolar U.S. general manager Nigel Cockroft, who added that the project adds to the companys growing list of U.S. developments, with more than 400 MW of modules shipped to the market in 2014.
"So far in 2015, we have signed contracts to supply an additional 750 MW of modules," said Cockroft, revealing that the U.S. is now second only to China as the biggest market for JinkoSolar.
It has been a busy week for the Chinese manufacturer. Yesterday the company announced that it is going to build a new solar cell and module factory that will add 500 MW of cell and 450 MW of module manufacturing capacity to its portfolio, while at the beginning of the week a fire at its wafer production facility in Jianxi, China, caused an estimated $160,000 in damages.
