juwi establishes Indian subsidiary; plans to develop 100 MWs of PV

The juwi-Group has opened a new subsidiary - juwi India Renewable Energies Pvt. Ltd - in Bangalore, India.

The company has said it will develop around 100 megawatts (MWs) of photovoltaics (PV) projects across India and in the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries in the coming years.

It went on to explain that in the beginning, the projects will be turnkey projects in which the company will act as the general contractor for the design, engineering and construction of free-field and rooftop solar installations.

However, the company has said it will also develop PV projects in India, covering the entire process - from acquisition of suitable land to the completion of the power plant.

"India currently provides excellent conditions for the solar industry and the country has the most attractive market in all of Asia. As one of the leading developers, juwi’s opportunities there are outstanding," commented Rajesh Bhat, president of the juwi subsidiary in India. "One hundred percent renewable energies are possible – now and not in the far future."
