Largest solar array in northeast Wisconsin is installed

The 115kW system was installed by NE Wisconsin company Eland Electric Corporation on the roof of KI's design and development facility and the 480 panels will supply 152,640 kWh of clean energy annually, enough energy to power 13 households and reducing KI's carbon footprint by 108 metric tonnes per annum or the amount of carbon locked up in 88 acres of forest.

"KI remains steadfast in its commitment to sustainability and renewable energy," said Dick Resch, KI's chief executive officer.

"This expansive solar PV system will help KI reduce its energy use and carbon footprint, all while educating visitors, employees and our customers about the benefits and importance of renewable energy."

The solar array was mounted on systems supplied by Delaware company SolarDock.

The project was part financed through two grants from the Focus on Energy program funded by Wisconsin's investor-owned utilities.

KI received a Focus on Energy grant for the installation and installers Eland also benefited from a Bonus Bid Program grant – for Focus on Energy partners – for their part of the project.
