Due to the strong global demand for its LG NeON 2 modules, LG Electronics will be expanding its production capacity at its Gumi module production plant in South Korea. The company has announced that the development of new Cello-technology integrated cell and module lines are already underway, with two lines each.
In line with its expansion plans, all existing production lines at the Gumi site which have been producing LG MonoX-NeON modules have been fitted with Cello technology implementers. This means that since August 2015, only LG NeON 2 modules have been delivered to Europe. The first container with the mentioned modules reached Europe in mid-August. The LG NeON 2 modules have been enjoying unfettered worldwide demand according to the company.
"With our new modules based on Cello technology, we go into the second half of 2015 with tailwind. The global demand for LG NeON 2 products is immense and we only expect to be able to satisfy all queries completely in the fourth quarter of 2015," said Michael Harre, Vice President of the EU Solar Business Group at LG Electronics, Germany.
The Cello technology stands for "Cell connection with Electrically Low loss, Low stress and Optical absorption enhancemen" which increases power output and improves appearance as LG states.
