U.S. tracking specialist NEXTracker has been selected by Australian EPC Elecnor to supply its state-of-the-art tracking technology to a 70 MW solar PV project currently under construction in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.
The $164 million plant in Moree Plains will become the largest tracking solar installation in Australia once complete, using NEXTrackers single axis trackers to ensure a higher yield. The project owner of the plant is Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), which received funding of $101 million from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and laons from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) to help finance the installation.
According to Elecnor project manager Pedro Fernandez, the technology offered by NEXTracker is the ideal accompaniment to what has proved a challenging project.
"NEXTracker has developed a unique foundation solution that addresses the challenging soil conditions found at this project site in Australia," he said. "The companys novel technology minimizes site grading and grounding requirements and simplifies design, installation and maintenance."
The supply deal with FRV is another string to NEXTracker's increasingly flush bow. the U.S. specialist has supplied trackers to many large-scale projects around the world this year, having announced in February that it is to double its manufacturing capacity.
