SunEdison’s 25 MW plant is located in Charanka village, in the Patan district. Comprised of over 89,000 photovoltaic modules, it was completed in four months, says the company in a statement released. It continued, "Due to statutory ownership requirements in India, SunEdison intends to continue to own a portion of this 25 MW project, and accordingly the project is intended to be held for at least the statutory period and will be consolidated on MEMC's balance sheet during this time."

On April 19, the Honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi, is scheduled to officially inaugurate the plant. Overall, SunEdison, a subsidiary of MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc., says it has activated a total of 45 MW of photovoltaics under the Gujarat Solar Program.

In related news, Waaree says it has successfully connected a five MW photovoltaic plant to Rajasthan’s grid. The project, located in Kolayat, Bikaner, was undertaken for Greentech Power Pvt. Ltd.

The necessary crystalline photovoltaic modules came from Waaree's Surat manufacturing plant. "The plant is operating at full capacity and has injected about one million units in its first month of operation," said the company in a statement.
