Panasonic plans to shut down its solar cell plant in March next year. The plant in Dorog, Hungary is expected to end all production in September and equipment from the plant will be transfered to other factories, according to a Reuters report.

Additional information from the Hungarian Solar Photovoltaic Association stated the Dorog plant produces about 20-30% of Panasonic's total solar cell production. The dismissal of the 500 workers will be in accordance with Hungarian law.

It was only in May that pv magazine reported the closure of the wafer production plant in Oregon, U.S.
