The growing mobile solar products sector continues to offer increasing opportunities around the globe.

Colorado-based Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc., announced on Wednesday that it had signed a distribution deal with Peak Development Ltd. to distribute its portable thin film EnerPlex products to large retailers in the United Kingdom.

Ascent Solar develops and manufacturs flexible thin-film PV modules that are integrated into the company's EnerPlex series of portable products that unite lightweight and rugged solar panels with power storage solutions for consumers who want to to be independent of the grid.

"At Peak Development, we specialize in offering new and innovative products to our customers. The EnerPlex brand and its revolutionary products are a truly unique proposition; we have seen solar devices before, but never have we seen such well-designed products that are flexible, robust and also work so well in the changeable British weather," said Peak Development Managing Director Robert Baseley.

John Maslanik, EnerPlex's manager of business development, added, "The United Kingdom continues to be a high-value target market for EnerPlex, one which bears huge potential for growth, and through our new partnership with Peak Development we intend to push further into the consumer space to realize this opportunity."

U.S. company NRG Energy, which recently acquired Utah-based mobile solar startup Goal Zero, announced this week that it was now offering the manufacturer's portable solar products to its new customers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
