Paris-based Akuo Energy is the company behind the project, with the company being one of the three largest solar operators in France. It is the first time Akuo and Phoenix have worked together.

"So far France is Phoenix Solar AG’s most important market in 2011," said Phoenix Solar’s Andreas Hänel in a statement announcing the projects. "We have already generated a contract volume of well over €100 million this financial year in France."

Phoenix Solar additionally told pv magazine that constant demand during the past years is the reason the company continues to enjoy success in France.

The plants will be located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur or PACA Region in Southeast France and construction is schedule to be completed by the end of 2011, with grid-connection in 2012.
