The non-profit Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing has launched the PV Racking Task Force, which will attempt to address "unintended consequences and challenges in commercial rooftop [photovoltaic] applications", which are the result of the rapid growth in the U.S. solar market.
In a statement marking the announcement, it is specified that the taskforce will have identified four objectives: "[to] identify and evaluate the various racking system technologies available; identify the key performance factors required for successful rooftop solar racking systems; identify measurable standards that can be used to assure key performance factors are met; and develop a comprehensive guideline for the evaluation and selection of rooftop racking systems."
The taskforce hopes to create measurable standards for low-slope racking systems against which commercial available ones can be assessed.
