Q-Cells lays off contract workers

Share

The company is thought to have laid off most of its contract workers due to the weak photovoltaic demand, which has characterized the first quarter of this year.

Eighty of the company’s 90 workers have been affected, confirmed a spokesperson for Q-Cells to German newspaper Mitteldeutschen Zeitung (Wednesday edition).

Although the company is said to regret the move, it is said to be necessary due to the fact that only one of the two production lines at its Bitterfeld-Wolfen location only partly works.

In the company’s Malaysian factory, adjustments have also been made.

However, as previously stated, none of Q-Cells approximately 2,300 permanent employees have been affected.
