Quanta Power awarded 70 MW EPC contract by GCL Solar

Quanta Power Generation, Inc., a subsidiary of Quanta Services, Inc., has won two contracts from GCL Solar Energy, Inc. under which it will provide EPC services for two U.S. photovoltaic plants worth 70 megawatts (MW).

The two plants will be installed near the city of Alpaugh in Tulare County, California. The first contract will see Quanta Power design and construct the 50 MW Alpaugh plant, in addition to procuring the necessary equipment. Pre-construction activities are said to have already begun back in February, and work is slated to be completed by the end of the year.

Under the second contract, signed with Alpaugh North LLC, an SPE (special purpose) subsidiary of GCL Solar Energy, Quanta Power will work on the 20 MW Alpaugh North Project. Work on it is expected to be completed this October.

"Combined, the facilities will use approximately 324,000 solar tracking modules, which will be provided by GCL Solar Energy, and span more than 500 acres," said Quanta Services in a statement released.
