ReneSola to develop 13 MW solar farm project in UK

ReneSola is developing a 13 MW solar project in Dorset, England.

The project received planning consent in January and is eligible for the United Kingdom's support scheme to promote renewable electricity-generating technologies. The plant will exclusively use ReneSola's Virtus II PV modules.

ReneSola CEO Xianshou Li said that while the company remained focused on its retail and residential business development, it selectively pursues project opportunities across key markets if they are in line with the group's broader strategic objectives.

Li stressed that the U.K. was "one of our best-performing markets, and one of the world's fastest-growing major solar markets," adding that the new project would further strengthen the company's leading market position in the country.

"The 13 MW Dorset project will be one of a series of selective projects we plan to build in the coming quarters," he added.

ReneSola said it had identified a number of potential buyers for the project but did not reveal their identities.

In August, ReneSola announced plans to expand its footprint in Europe's most dynamic PV market, supplying 22 MW of solar modules to two large-scale solar farms in England – a 10.8 MW project in Bottom Plain, Dorset, and the 15.6 MW Cofely GDF Suez installation in Bilsham Farm, Arundel.
