Samsung planning to open fourth Ontario solar facility

In addition to Toronto, Tillsonburg and Windsor, where the company will produce solar inverters, wind turbines and blades, it will manufacture modules in Ontario’s London.

According to McGuinty, 200 jobs are expected to be created. Samsung, however, could not be reached for comment regarding the size of the planned facility, or when it is expected to start operations. Media reports have said, however, it will be operational by 2012.

"Our plan is building the most knowledgeable, highly skilled workforce around – and that's helping to create a clean-energy economy," commented McGuinty.

"I want to thank Samsung for their vote of confidence in our plan – in Ontarians' skills and education, which is our greatest advantage when it comes to competing in the global economy and building that clean-energy economy here at home."
