The Norwegian company has signed a contract with a vehicle company – owned by the Spanish Fotowatio Renewable Ventures, and Italian Italgen – to design, build, commission and operate the plant in a former quarry, near the town of Guiglia in the province of Modena. It will be installed on an area of 20 hectares.
Over 26,000 PV modules will be used, to produce 6.16 MW of energy.
The project is expected to be completed and connected to the grid by this autumn. Scatec says the plant will generate in excess of 7.5 million kilowatt hours annually, which should be enough to cover the electricity needs of more than 2,000 families.?
"We are very pleased to have reached an agreement to build this PV plant on behalf of Fotowatio and Italgen, and we look forward to further cooperation in the future," commented Raymond Carlsen, CEO of Scatec Solar.
