Soitec will use solar modules manufactured at its new 200 MW concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) facility, which will be located in the San Diego area, for the project. When started, the factorys construction period is expected to last for 18 months.
Including the new agreements, Soitec and SDG&E have now signed contracts for the generation of 155 MW of CPV energy. This will be produced under five separate projects.
The two latest projects will be located in San Diego County, subject to approval from the California Public Utilities Commission.
