Share

Yesterday, pv magazine reported on the governmental announcement of funding for two large solar power generation projects in Australia, marking the confirmation of a major shift towards solar technology by state and federal governments. Details have now emerged as to the successful renewable energy project and bid.

The Solar Dawn plant will provide base-load renewable electricity, combining AREVA Solar’s Compact Linear Fresnel Reflector solar steam generators with a gas boiler back-up, providing around the clock generation.

The consortium hopes to finalize relevant approvals, finance, maintenance and engineering, procurement and construction contracts by the end of 2011.
