Share

Once complete – scheduled for the end of the year – the plant will meet around 13% of the energy needs at the mining company Compañía Minera Doña Inés de Collahuasi.

A spokesperson for Solarpack told pv magazine that a PPA has been signed between the two parties. The price will be decided upon later on, they added. They could not disclose who will supply the necessary equipment, including modules.

The ground breaking ceremony was attended by Chilean Mining Minister, Hernán de Solminihac, and the Undersecretaries for National Resources and Energy, in addition to representatives from Collahuasi and Solarpack.

The Spain-based company and Collahuasi will also establish a 300 kW R&D solar plant on land in Collahuasi Port in the Patache area. It will be used to test different photovoltaic technologies and to generate power for the port.

No further project details were released.
