Solarunited to realign industry focus at Intersolar Europe-EUPVSEC conference

Solar PV equipment organization SOLARUNITED will announce at next week’s collocated Intersolar Europe-EUPVSEC exhibition and conference that it is to transform once more into a Global PV Technology & Industry Association.

The group was previously called the International PV Equipment Association (IPVEA), but voted to rebrand itself as SOLARUNITED in 2014 in order to reflect changes in the upstream solar sector, to better increase its collaboration with energy storage providers, utilities and grid operators.

According to the SOLARUNITED press release, this latest realignment is the result of continued market transformation in the past couple of years across the solar industry. Globalization of various links of the PV supply chain has continued apace, increasing the need for a global association that can unify the upstream part of the value chain, the press release said.

As a "Global PV Technology & Industry Association", SOLARUNITED say that its focus will be steered towards "serving the mutual market interest of PV equipment technology manufacturers, cells and module producers, project developers, financiers, consultants, service providers, law firms and other parties focused on the growth of solar energy".

The organization will not seek to achieve this alone, it says, and will collaborate with a number of respected bodies in the industry, including VDMA – which will assist with the new edition of the ITRPV roadmap; the new European PV Technology and Innovation Platform (ETIP-PV), which represents the PV sector of Europe and which SOLARUNITED will join, and the Global Solar Council, of which SOLARUNITED was a founding member.

At next week’s Intersolar Europe/EUPVSEC exhibition, SOLARUNITED will launch the first version of the Global PV Technology & Industry Report, and on July 1 the group’s management structure will be upgraded to bring Bryan Ekus into the position of international relations and member development, Bernhard Krause as marketing coordinator, and Gaetan Masson in charge of content program development and strategy.
