On the back of its recently established subsidiary, Sparx Green Energy & Technology Co. Ltd (SGET), Japan-based Spark Group Co. Ltd has announced it will install an 8 MW photovoltaic plant in Ashikitamachi Town, Kumamoto Prefecture.
A memorandum of understanding has been signed by the company and Ashikitamachi Town to install the around JPY2.8 billion (around US$35.5 million; €28 million) Ashikita Mega Solar Power Plant. Construction is scheduled to commence this December and should be completed by next October.
At the end of July, Spark announced the establishment of SGET. In a statement released at the time, it explained, "This subsidiary have been established to play a pivotal role of our on-going project of power generation related fund as a pioneer for the infrastructure fund with a focus on power generation by utilizing renewable energy and contribute to the society." It has around JPY50 million in capital.
