The new solar cell manufacturing line is now in production, says the company, which will help it to meet the "increasing worldwide demand" for its product. It added that it has also expanded its workforce, thus creating more clean energy jobs in the U.S.
Demand for our high-efficiency, low-cost solar cells and modules continues to increase rapidly, which is a testament to the quality of Sunivas products, said John Baumstark, chairman and chief executive officer of Suniva. We are pleased to have the ability to quickly expand our capacity, maintain a low-cost structure, hire additional employees and help the U.S. lead the new clean-energy economy.
Suniva completed its first 32 MW manufacturing line in November 2008 and simultaneously announced an additional 64 MW line, which was completed in 2009.
