Taiwan's largest cement maker wants to go solar

The chosen site is located in the southern Pingtung county and is supposedly worth tens of billions of Taiwan dollars according to a statement released by the company's chairman Koo Cheng-yun. Taiwan Cement is in talks with Taiwan Sugar, which is a major land ownder for the lease of the land in Pingtung.
Taiwan's companies are increasingly showing a trend of switching to green energy with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) announcing last year the investment of U.S$192 million for a 20 percent stake of Motech Industries, Taiwan's largest solar cells producer. Inventec Corporation, a renowned contract notebook computer maker, announced last year it will invest the equivalent of U.S$95 million in in solar cells as well.
